Elena Ambrosino

Senior Project Manager

  • Elena joined TBVI in early 2025 as a Senior Project Manager. She is currently seconded to the European Vaccine Initiative, where she is responsible for coordinating and supporting projects on the implementation of malaria vaccines. With 20 years of experience in biomedical science, she has worked in diverse settings and across global health issues, including malaria, HPV, HIV, and cancer. Previously, she also worked with the World Health Organization, where she led the establishment of the Genomics programme and supported R&D initiatives in global health. Earlier, she worked in both academia and government research settings, where she led and supervised research on infectious diseases. She has also extensively taught and mentored PhD candidates and master’s students. Throughout her career, Elena has worked in and collaborated with teams across the African Region, South Asia, and Latin America.
    Elena holds a PhD in Immunology and Cellular Biology from the University of Torino (Italy), for research she conducted at the National Cancer Institute (NIH, USA) on cancer immunology and cancer vaccines. She also holds an advanced Master’s in International Health from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute and a Master’s in Medical Biotechnology from the University of Torino (Italy).
