Diana Muñoz

- Diana has over ten years of experience in biomedical science working on topics such as malaria, COVID-19, antimicrobial resistance, HPV and haematology. She has an Engineer in Biotechnology from the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador after which she worked in projects of antimicrobial resistance in rural communities in Ecuador. Later, she earned an MRes in Biomedical and Molecular Sciences at King’s College London and pursued a PhD in Malaria Immunology at the University of Edinburgh. Following her experience studying disease tolerance in controlled human malaria infection trials during her PhD, she studied immune correlates of SARS-CoV2 exposure as a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London. She continued working on translational research as responsible for the ‘Track and Trace’ program to map responses to platelet transfusions in hemato-oncological patients at Sanquin obtaining an EHA and ISBT fellowships.
Diana is motivated by projects that combine scientific purpose and practical Global Health impact which can have meaningful contributions in developing countries and neglected communities. Advancing TB vaccines and therapies is an invaluable opportunity to apply her passion to working towards global health ideals.
