Julia Ruokomäki
Project Manager
- Julia is working as a Project Manager, supporting the MTBVAC AVANTE programme, an international initiative advancing the clinical development and future access of MTBVAC, a new tuberculosis vaccine candidate.
She is a Medical Doctor with a Master’s degree in Global Health from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her professional and research experience spans clinical medicine, global health, and infectious diseases. She has experience working in both European and African settings.
Julia is completing her PhD at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Her PhD is conducted in collaboration with TBVI, and its exploring policy, health system, and equity considerations surrounding the future introduction of novel TB vaccines, using Critical Systems Heuristics and systems thinking as key analytical approaches.
She is passionate about making healthcare innovations accessible to the people and communities who need them most.
